Breaking Vegan

Hellllooooo!

So you I wrote in my last blog that I had started living the Vegan lifestyle and was no longer eating cheese, eggs, gelatin...all that jazz. Well June brought A LOT of exciting stuff!! Mine and my boyfriend's birthday and a new job. The first week of June went great, I was eating vegan at work, not getting anything with cheese or egg or any animal stuff like that. My bf's birthday came and I knew that not eating cake or sweets was going to pose a challenge. I tried to resist but I felt awful that I was the ONLY one not partaking in the birthday dinner and desserts. I caved....I ate the brownies and the cupcakes. Next was MY birthday. I knew on my birthday I could have anything I wanted. Well the restaurants we went to were Italian, just like my family, which meant lots of cheese! I got a Veggie Pasta Cannoli so I definitely could've gotten everything without cheese but, it was my birthday!! Of course I'm going to splurge on my birthday :D We also had Tiramisu which was delicious by the way. That was just my mom and I celebrating, my dad's side wanted to celebrate as well. They have the tradition of getting Tres Leches cakes for birthdays. I LOVE Tres Leches (Three Milk) cake. But that is DEFINITELY not Vegan.
I am still very much vegetarian but I have definitely broken my veganism as of now. I know that nothing can truly be 100% Vegan if you really think about it but it makes you feel like you're trying to see the world form a different view. I still don't drink milk or eat eggs but I can't promise that I won't eat something that has dairy or eggs bakes into it.
I can always start my journey again but for now I am breaking vegan.

Words of advice

So this whole vegetarian/vegan thing has been super hard for me, not the part where you have to cut out certain food but the part where I still have accept that other people do not care about animals and will continue eating meat. It really sickens me to know that people still eat meat after knowing the truth.
So what did I do? I reached out to a vegan support group. I am tried of coming across as being the bitchy, whiney, pushy vegan. That is the one thing I feared. I had asked a simple question: "How do you handle people's choices to eat meat in an understanding matter?"
The answer: "As a vegetarian for over half of my life, married to a man who is not, my best advice is that how one eat's is a VERY personal choice and there is no better way to loose friends than by criticizing their eating habits. You can cook awesome veggie/vegan recipes and then share them with friends, especially healthy, yummy sweets can really make a positive impression. Help influence people with your actions, not your disgust."

I have known this the whole time, I think I just forgot to think about it. Maybe I shouldn't push people towards veganism in such a blunt way. Maybe I should do it subtly. Make food around the holidays and other special occasions. *If I ever have the money to*
But then it still sits in the back of my mind that what if I go totally out there and make a delicious vegan meal and only to have them say "Oh it's pretty good" and then plop it on their plate with the non vegan food. They are going to try it and thinks it's good but are they really going to consider going vegan just because the food is good? maybe, but what they are probably sitting there thinking is "she can try all she wants but I will never stop needing my meat, milk, and eggs". And then I will just feel hopeless all over again. I don't want to waste my time and effort doing vegan things for other people if it isn't going to impact them.

This journey sure has been frustrating. I know it is supposed to feel peaceful and overpowering but right now I just feel let down. I take it very personally (even though I shouldn't) that the people who care about me, don't care about the animals. How can they not see the cruelty behind it? It's not about killing these animals, it's about the pain and suffering they have to go through because of our choices. We are taking away their lives. by the time they die they probably have wished it a thousand times already. They are stressed out and depressed. We lock them in cages their whole lives and separate the moms from the babies. if this were happening to humans we would put an end to it immediately but since it is just farm animals we don't care.

Just farm animals?
Just?
Wow.
They are living, breathing, felling creatures too, just like us.
They look a little different and they don't speak our language.
They have a heart and a brain, they feel too.
I feel so terribly bad that we had to pick the cows. Was it because they were easy to catch? Did our ancestors travel long distances, run out of food, and resort to having to kill an animal and the easiest one was a cow or a chicken or a pig? Most definitely. I believe with all my heart that we honnestly just got hungry one day and were in need of eating so we decided to give animals a try. Nothing wrong with that right? No not really, I am sure it only happen in certain areas of the world at the time and i am sure the animals were free roaming. Then what did we do? We taught our kids that it's okay to kill the animals because we need food to survive and sometimes we need to do what we need to do. Well still not too bad, although we have probably twice if not three times more people  having to kill animals to eat and survive. Lest fast forward a loooooooooong time. We start getting smarter and start making different kinds of food and learning about nutrition. We now have figured out that you can get as much protein from beans, Quinoa, broccoli, asparagus..etc. and yet we still killing animals. Why? we have finally figured out what we need to survive and what types of nutrients we need in our bodies to live healthy like our ancestors once did. So why do we still need to kill animals? Well, our ancestors told their kids, who told their kids, who told their kids, who told their kids, etc that it is okay to kill animals because we need to survive. It all got passed dow to us. The only thing we didn't realize at the time is the nutritional education behind it. We were to blind to see that there are other things out there besides meat that provide us with the nutrients we need to survive. We went from eating meat to stay alive to now eating or "needing" meat because it tastes good. Selfish.

anyways the moral of this is that I will definitely try to not be so pushy with my veganism, but the world needs to change.
This world saddens me. And today I had someone tell me to change if i didn't like the world. I am changing but the majority of the world is not and they will be the ones who ruin this beautiful earth for all of us. You can try all you want to stop it but it takes the whole world changing before the day of peace comes.

I am outie for the night guys.
I am exhausted right now and falling asleep while typing hahaha

Night,

Vegan Freak

Hello There,
It's been a while. I just got a new laptop so blogging will be sooooo much easier. I hope my blogs get out there someday. I know only few people will see these but blogging gives me such joy!
Tonight I would like to talk about a recent change in my life. I am now a vegan. I began a vegetarian lifestyle on March 13th 2014 and just recently decided to take it to the next step and become vegan.
At first it was hard because I had sooo many cravings. It was also really weird going grocery shopping at first because all I knew how to make without meat was pasta. I have recently gotten into more recipes such as chili, burritos, enchiladas, Pho, rice bowls and pbjs :)
I am also shopping organic as well so I can reduce the GMO content in my food. The cravings for meat have completely vanished and meat actually nauseates me now. I literally have the hardest time being around people who are cooking or eating meat. It's definitely been a struggle for me.
I am also struggling with accepting other people's choices to eat meat. It's extremely hard for me to be nice to meat eaters right now. Maybe I am just really sensitive right now. I think  that after time it will get better. My whole family eats meat and so do all of my friends. I still love them dearly and I greatly appreciate the love and support they have shown me but I really wish they would research the meat industry and dairy industry to see for themselves.

Are any of you vegan or vegetarian?
Please reach out to me if you see this, start the communication nation!

Well I am outie for the night, I just felt like giving an update after being gone for 100000 years, okay not that long but you get it.

Peace and love to all!

Technical Tip Tuesday!

Hello Everyone! Do y have I an iPad, iPhone or iPod touch? I'd say a lot of people do these days because of the image they put out there that owning and Apple product is "cool".....it's ok I have an iPad so I totally know how it is lol
Well I am trained in Apple products so I thought for this weeks Tuesday we'd make it Technical Top Tuesday!!
When I worked at Apple this was one of the biggest problems people would be upset about beside their scene shattering. I hope this blog helps at least a few of you  keep your important information safe!
Have you ever been playing around on you iPad and you notice a little red circle with a number 1 in it on your settings application? That means you have an update, now a lot of people will just click on it and hit update without really understanding what it does. Updates are very good for y devices because they help improve bugs and software glitches that may be happening. Your software will NEVER be perfect so should think twice about getting mad if your keyboard doesn't pop up right away when you want to type....I know things like that can be annoying and you are probably thinking "why in the world did pay $500  for this device if the keyboard isn't going to pop up right away?" Well I have news for you, technology is not perfect. There will be issues no matter how well you take care of your device, so before you get mad just take a breathe and think of ways you may be able to fix it. You really don't need to upset yourself by overthinking it and wanting to know why it's happening, chances are the tech support person you are talking to doesn't know why it's happening they were just told by their supervisor to come up with some believable story to sound like they know everything about technology.
WOW I got off subject, so anyways. You go to do the software update but you don't realize that, depending in how big the update is, it will take the information off of your device and put it back on in updated format. When that happens there is ALWAYS a chance that you could lose all or some of your precious information. What you need to make sure you are doing is backing up all of you data in iCloud or iTunes before you do anything with that software, that way even if the update does erase your information you still have it on that backup.

You can make a backup in iCloud by going to Settings > iCloud > Storage and Back Up > and clicking on backup now
You can make a backup in iTunes by plugging your device into the computer, opening up the latest version of iTunes, look on the left had side of the iTunes and you should see Devices, under Devices should be your device. Click on your device and it should take you to the Summary page. There should be an option to Restore backup or Backup (iPad, iPhone, iPod). You will want to click on backup iPad, iPhone, iPod. If you click restore back up it will put the last back up that was made to that computer, onto your device.

I hope this post helped and if you guys have any other technical questions feel free to comment belo and I will do my best to answers then or at least provide tips on what you might be able to do.

Have a great night everyone!

Makeup Monday! Neutral Brown

Hello everyone! Today is Makeup Monday!!!! One of my favorite things to do is Makeup! I love it because a little bit of makeup can change your entire mood, it can make you feel better about yourself. Now, I don't wear it as much as I used to, but it is still one of my biggest passions.

Here is a look most of you ladies will love because you can wear it anywhere! It's not too much and it will go with any skin, eye, and hair color.
It just my usual Neutral Brown look that I would wear if I did my makeup everyday.
Okay, so this is me before all the makeup.....scary right?

These are the only items I used:
NYX foundation
NYX Super Skinny liquid eyeliner pen
Kay Von D Eye Primer
Maybelline Mascara in Falsies
Kat Von D brush kit
Kat Von D Saint Eye Shadow Palette
A foundation Sponge to apply the foundation

Here is the finished look, the lighting in my house sucks :,(

I hope you all enjoyed Makeup Monday! Have a great rest of your day!

Craft Sunday!! Little Hat

Hello everyone! Today is craft Sunday here and I will be showing you my current creation.
If you don't know already I love making hats! I use a loom knitter to knit them and they are so easy and fun to make! Currently I am working on one for a smaller head, not sure who to give it to though.

It doesn't look much like a hat at the moment but once I get a little farther on it you will be able to make it out better. The color scheme is light blue and black, perfect for a boy or a girl.
If any of you would be interested, I can do some tutorials here or on my YouTube channel, HotPinkZebra09 and teach you guys how to loom knit?
Let me know what you think!
Have a fantastic day everyone!
